Current Investigation

Following the discovery of Marrisa Shen’s body, her death was determined to be a murder. IHIT investigators, forensic specialists and RCMP and Municipal Tactical Troops meticulously searched and collected evidence in Central Park.

Investigators have spoken to hundreds of individuals in the area surrounding Central Park in order to identify anyone who may have more information concerning the death of Marrisa Shen. Investigators also returned to Central Park and conducted a park-wide canvass to speak to regular users of the park. In addition, over 200 tips have been received on the IHIT Infoline which investigators continue to follow up on.

Over a thousand hours of video surveillance footage from 60 different locations in and near Central Park were collected by investigators. Some of this video has been crucial in advancing the investigation and investigators have reached out to the public in requesting any video or photos taken in or near the park on the evening of July 18, 2017.

The murder of Marrisa Shen continues to be a priority investigation in the province of British Columbia. IHIT investigators continue to work tirelessly to identify the person responsible for her death.

The investigation to date, has identified over 1000 people for further follow up concerning the murder of Marrisa Shen. The goal in following up with these individuals is to identify anyone who has information concerning the investigation and to also identify the person responsible for Marrisa Shen’s murder.

Many other investigative avenues are being pursued but cannot be shared at this time because their release could compromise the investigation. When there is information that can be shared with the public all future updates can be found on this website.
